Docent Program

Docents at the Springville Museum of Art conduct tours for groups of all ages. Training on temporary exhibits, the permanent collection, historical background of the building, and effective teaching methods are all part of the Docent program.

For further information about how to become an SMA Docent, or if you are interested in scheduling a tour for your group, please see the links below.  If you are interested in learning more about the SMA Docent program, please contact Dr. Virgil Jacobsen, the Curator of Education.

Guided tours are offered to schools and groups of eight or more. Tours may be scheduled by calling the Museum at least two weeks in advance. A twelve minute video of the Museum and its history is available for a pre-visit orientation upon request.   A ratio of one adult to every ten students is required for children’s groups.
