The Springville Museum of Art has hosted many exhibition openings in the recent months.
Blaine & Louise Clyde Retrospective Exhibition
Blaine and Louise Clyde Galleries, New Wing, Upper Level

The Blaine and Louise Clyde Retrospective Exhibition is in honor of the Clyde family contributions and celebrates Louise’s 90th year. The Museum thanks her and her family for the extraordinary gifts they have given to the museum and its collection. From majestic landscapes to personal portraits, the works of art in this exhibition are more than a grouping of extraordinary pieces from the Museum’s collection; they display the significance of a family’s generosity. The Springville Museum of Art pays tribute to the Blaine and Louise Clyde Family, their friends, and relatives.
The following exhibitions are on display from 13 September – 16 October 2008. The opening reception for these shows is on 13 September 2008, from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Unbound: Original Picture Book Art by Utah Illustrators
Main level Clyde Gallery
Open until December 28th, 2008
This is a spectacular exhibit of children’s book illustrations from 27 Utah illustrators. The show will display finished pieces along with works that explore the process of creating illustrations. Some of the illustrators will be at the museum for the opening throughout the duration of the exhibit to do live readings of their books!
Terpsikhorov: Master Artist of Mother Russia
Bird and Stepdown Galleries
Nikolai Borisovich Terpsikhorov (1890-1960) is well beloved among devotees and connoisseurs of Russian art. Among Soviet era artists whose paintings are both realistic and exhibit Narodnost, the “interests of the people and of the land,” Terpsikhorov takes a prominent place. His oeuvre encompasses many subjects including revolutionary, history, ethnographic, and working-class genre paintings, as well as portraits and an abundance of landscapes. Since the mastery of Terpsikhorov was developed on the basis of the reflection of Soviet life, all his pictures bear a definite stamp of social themes and revolutionary times. Yet, ultimately he is a painter of Russia and its exotic far flung empire.
John Telford: Personal Selections from Four Decades

Celebrating the illustrious career of John Telford, this exhibition shows some of his favorite work from the past forty years. There are photographs taken both in his home state of Utah and in many places throughout the country and around the world. More than simply being photographs that exhibit technical expertise, these are photographs that show what is beautiful, elusive, and unusual as seen through Telford's selective vision.
23rd Annual Spiritual and Religious Show

This annual juried exhibition explores the varied spiritual aspirations, feelings and perceptions of contemporary Utah artists. This exhibition provides a well rounded and unique experience to viewers. The nature of this exhibition allows artists to create and display works that have a deeper meaning, and share these meditations with the public.
